Library

Libraries are always the central point of all Research work and studies& Access to information is a vital key in developing the individual’s potentiality. Our Library well catalogued and equipped with latest IT systems to enable easy classification, placement and retrieval.

We maintain well stocked separate libraries for each of its colleges and faculties. These libraries have approximately 50 thousands books on varied subjects with latest editions of books both for reference and text and have subscription to  200 print/ online version of national and international journals besides access to a host of e-journals.

It also subscribes to various newspaper and periodicals, magazines  for the information and update of their knowledge. Fully automated and all the  in-house operations performed by the library management software in all the associated libraries which  improve the users’ services & have a digital catalogue for quick search of books.

Circulation Section:

  • Library Circulation comprises the activities around the circulation of Library and other material to users. A Circulation department is one of the key departments of the Library.
  • The main public service point is the Circulation or loan desk. It provides lending and return of loaned Books.
  • Renewal of materials and payment of fines are also handled at the circulation desk.

Reading Hall

Reading Hall with a seating capacity of 80 nos. is placed on the first floor where  the users are allowed to bring their own material and sit and read.           

Reference Section

The Reference Section is rare materials and reference materials are placed to

 access by the users. Hand books, Encyclopedias, Dictionaries and other important and rare books are placed according to the classification system.

Large reading room with comfortable environment will be provided for students & staff separately . The interventions of Information Technology has provided a great gap in the case of Library automation services.

The Library is computerized with all the features of library management system. The library also maintains e-books for students and it has the digital library facility for all the students with the internet connections.

Every year, new books are purchased after getting recommendations of the concerned teachers. There is a separate Library Committee which after assessing the need of books and other ICT tools in the library arranges for their purchase and ensures their regular maintenance with the consultation of the Principal.

It also ensures healthy and hygienic study environment in the library. There is optimum utilization of library facility in the college and the library reading lounge is almost full round the day.

Teachers and students get books issued for a set time period and later on get them reissued or exchanged them with new books. In the regular classes and in mentor group meetings, students are motivated to make use of library facility for their intellectual growth.

Students have access to the finest collection of contemporary books and journals which supplement the prescribed reference books and text books, providing students an opportunity to gain significant appreciation of Science, Arts and Commerce etc. Subjects, going well beyond the classroom- based programs.

The facilities of Book Bank, Inter Library Loan, Lamination, Photocopy Computerized Information Services, reprographics, drinking water etc. are available for readers. The library has a collection of thousands documents, notes .

The working hours of the library are 09.30 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. In the Library, Wi-Fi Internet access is provided so that students may access resource materials, e-learning video and other educational aids instantly in real time while the lecture is in progress.

MR. College Library consists of Central Library together with a Digital Library and Fifteen Departmental libraries which collectively support the Teaching Research and Extension programmes of the Institute.

The Library block with amenities like Reading Hall, Loan Book Section, Reference Section, Periodical Section, E-Learning Centre and Reprographic services.

The Library has always been striving hard to meet the expectations of its users, with professionals and its supporting staff.

All the students, faculty members and employs of the institute are entitled to make use of the Library facilities on taking the Library membership.

The glorious Institution Maharajah’s college was Primarily a Middle school, founded by Sri. Pusapati Vijaya Rama Gajapathi in 1857. It was upgraded into a second grade college in 1879 and classes were started in 1881.

The Library Hall of Maharajah’s college was opened by the students in the memory of Late Calamur Chandrasekhara Sastri garu, First Principal of this college on 20-09-1887. It was named Chandrasekhara Sastry’s Library hall.  It was renamed as the Durell Library on 9th November 1909.

Since 01-09-1951, recorded information about the books is available. Since then the Departmental Libraries have also been in existence and stock registers as well as departmental registers are being maintained.

We have a very good collection of books both in Telugu and English literature received by purchase, presentation and Book Banks. Many a scholar and a foreign visitor visited our library and expressed their utmost satisfaction at our rare collection.

The facilities provided in the institution are meeting the expectations of the academicians in the teaching environment.

The institution is having a good Library which caters the needs of the faculty, students and the staff in providing the required learning resources at the right time.

Central Library consists 15 departmental libraries which collectively support the teaching, research and extension programmes of the institutions. 

The library occupies 3830 Sft. Of area with 125 seating capacity accommodated in two rooms of Reading room, Reference section, Loan book section, Technical section, Periodical and Digital library.

The Central library is fully automated in the year 2009 with SOUL (Software for University Libraries) Software developed by INFLIBNET.

Library has a book collection of 62776 books (Volumes -40256, Titles -22520), 28 Print Periodicals (as on 01-03-2025).

Property Counter:

Users are allowed to keep their belongings like bags and other material which are not allowed inside the Library are to be placed in the Property counter.

Library Objectives:

  1. To inculcate the reading habits in the user community.
  2. To assemble, preserve and administer books and related materials in organized collections in order to promote through guidance and stimulation.
  3. To furnish up to date facts and information to the users.
  4. To assist the teaching staff in organizing the synthetic methods of teaching.
  5. To serve the users the general centre of reliable information.

The Library Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC) can be accessed on internet  and internet to

search all the bibliographic records available in library database.

 

Book Search:

M.R. Degree College Central Library, The  easiest way find the book, user can approach the library ‘s Online Public Access Catalog. Depending on the integrated library system.
